Golden Valley Water Damage

01

The challenge

A cracked upstairs toilet tank let water run through the upper floor, down through the kitchen ceiling, and all the way to the basement — soaking flooring on three levels and turning a contained failure into a whole-house loss.

02

Our approach

Water extraction and drying came first, then the damaged floors and finishes were removed rather than patched. With the house already open across three levels, the repair was planned as a full remodel — one team carrying demolition through finish carpentry.

The results

The home came back brighter and more usable. New engineered hardwood runs through the main level, herringbone marble tiles the upstairs bath, and the basement became a teen-friendly hangout with a kitchenette — mid-century modern touches carried across all three floors.

Cause of loss: water damage from a cracked upstairs toilet tank that ran through the kitchen ceiling and down to the basement. Style direction: eco-friendly, mid-century modern, minimalist.

The leak is what forced the work, but it also opened the house up. Because the water traveled from the top floor down to the basement, flooring and finishes had to come out on every level rather than be patched in a single room. With the house already back to a shell, the repair became the moment to rethink the layout instead of just restoring it.

New engineered hardwood now runs across the main level, the upstairs bath is tiled in herringbone marble, and the old basement play space became a teen-friendly hangout with its own kitchenette. That sequencing is the pattern behind most water damage restoration in Golden Valley: the repair is the moment a house can finally get the layout it should have had.
