Cause of loss: water damage from a cracked upstairs toilet tank that ran through the kitchen ceiling and down to the basement. Style direction: eco-friendly, mid-century modern, minimalist.
The leak is what forced the work, but it also opened the house up. Because the water traveled from the top floor down to the basement, flooring and finishes had to come out on every level rather than be patched in a single room. With the house already back to a shell, the repair became the moment to rethink the layout instead of just restoring it.
New engineered hardwood now runs across the main level, the upstairs bath is tiled in herringbone marble, and the old basement play space became a teen-friendly hangout with its own kitchenette. That sequencing is the pattern behind most water damage restoration in Golden Valley: the repair is the moment a house can finally get the layout it should have had.
